comparison of the acute broncho dilating effects of inhaled ipratropium bromide and salbutamol in patients wi th chronic obstructive pulmonary dise ase

چکیده
forty-five patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were studied to compare the acute effects of ipratropium bromide (60 µg), salbutamol (300 µg) and placebo (3 puffs) on the forced expiratory volume in 1 sec (fev 1) and forced vital capacity (pvc). ipratropium bromide produced a significantly greater improvement than salbutamol in both fev1 and fvc at 15,60 and 180 minutes after drug administration. it may therefore be concluded that in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ipratropium bromide has greater potency and a longer duration of action than salbutamol

متن کاملComparison of nebulised salbutamol and ipratropium bromide with salbutamol alone in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
BACKGROUND Patients admitted with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are often prescribed ipratropium bromide in combination with a beta 2 agonist such as salbutamol. Studies have not shown any benefit in adding ipratropium bromide to salbutamol in acute exacerbations of COPD, but these studies have only assessed patients for 60-90 minutes and short term studies ...
متن کاملComparison of the effects of inhaled ipratropium bromide and salbutamol on the bronchoconstrictor
A double blind, placebo controlled compa-rison was made of the effects of nebulised ipratropium bromide (0O05 and 0-5 mg) and salbutamol (0-25 and 2-5 mg) on lung function and the airway response to hyperventilation in eight normal subjects. Both agents at both doses caused similar baseline bronchodilatation, confirming the presence of resting bronchomotor tone. The overall mean increases as pe...
متن کاملEffects of Inhaled Albuterol and Ipratropium Bromide
Study objective: Systemic administration of P-agonist and anticholinergic drugs markedly impair normal autonomic heart rate control. The purpose of this study was to quantify and compare the effects of therapeutic doses of inhaled albuterol and ipratropium on autonomic control of the cardiovascular system. Design: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover design study. Setting: Te...
متن کاملThe effects of Pilates and diaphragm exercises on some pulmonary factors in chronic obstructive pulmonary Patients
Introduction and purpose: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the most important pulmonary diseases. The most important way to minimize the progress of the disease is to rehabilitate the lung. Rehabilitation of the lung improves respiratory pattern. To this end, the effects of two types of Pilates and Diaphragm exercises on some of the pulmonary factors in these patients were...
متن کاملComparison of the quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and control group
Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the fourth cause of mortality and a leading cause of chronic disability worldwide. Given the nature of the disease and lack of any effective treatment, it can profoundly affect the quality of life (QOL) of patients. Studies about the effect of COPD on QOL have yielded contradictory results however, most studies suggest that COPD ne...
